A carburetor that’s out of adjustment, gummed up from sitting, or fighting a vacuum leak can make a great classic miserable to drive. Before anything gets replaced, we look at the whole picture: fuel supply, the float and needle, choke operation, vacuum lines and the ignition side.
Carburetor and ignition work is a big part of what we do for classic owners. One customer wrote that Rafael “not only fixed it but he actually made it better than the original tune setup.”
What’s included
- Inspection of fuel delivery, filter, float level and needle and seat
- Choke and fast-idle operation check and adjustment
- Idle speed and mixture adjustment
- Vacuum leak testing on hoses and gaskets
- Cleaning or rebuild recommendations when the carburetor needs more than a tune
- Ignition check, because a weak spark often looks like a carb problem
Signs it’s time to come in
- Hard starting, cold or hot
- Stumbling or bogging when you step on the gas
- Rich fuel smell or black smoke
- Rough or hunting idle
- Fuel leaking or dripping around the carburetor
- Car has been sitting and won’t idle right
Daily drivers and classics
Carburetors live mostly on classics, so this page is about the cars we love most. If your daily driver has fuel injection and a similar symptom, see Check Engine Light & Diagnostics.
We work on foreign and domestic vehicles, most makes and models, including Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Chrysler, Toyota, Nissan and Subaru, plus American classics like Mustangs, Trans Ams and vintage trucks.
No guesswork. No surprises.

Carburetor Repair & Tuning FAQ
Should I rebuild or replace my carburetor?
It depends on what we find. Many carburetors only need cleaning and adjustment. Rafael will show you the condition and explain your options before any work is done.
Can a bad carburetor cause my car to stall?
Yes. A clogged idle circuit, a sticking choke or a vacuum leak can all cause stalling. Ignition problems can too, which is why we check both.
Do you work on carbureted trucks too?
Yes. We work on classic cars and vintage trucks. Call with the year, make and model so we can talk it through.
